Education Council

Mission

The Education Council is not purely what the title would imply. Ideally, it is comprised of a cross-section of the church. Teachers and Sunday school teachers, church members, some youth, some parents and grandparents make up the group.  The United Methodist church over the last few years has experienced a decline of participation in small study groups and Sunday school classes. The Education Council has been continually brainstorming to keep both the children and the adults of Central interested and engaged.

This group works with the Christian Education Director, Kelly Devine and the Sunday school teachers to choose curriculum.  Assisting the teachers in making each child’s learning experience at Central rewarding and nurturing is our primary goal.  To insure that the children and youth ultimately take part in the act of worship at Central is a secondary goal.  Beyond the Sunday morning experience, this council plans additional activities to carry Christian Education just a bit further. Vacation Bible School, Central’s Free Family Carnival, Trunk or Treating Party and the Clothing Center Christmas Party are just some of the ways we help our church family interact with the surrounding neighborhood families.  Do you feel that the Christian education of our children and the continuing spiritual education of our adults are of interest of you?  Please check out this group. It may be a place for you to share your gifts and graces with your church family.
