There are many ways to join Central UMC for worship!

9:30 am on site + online single service through Labor Day:

What to expect

When you arrive, there is signage at every entrance directing you to the sanctuary, bathrooms, office, and other important spaces. But if you’re unsure where to go, there are always people around who would be happy to help!

Services generally last about 1 hour. Most services follow the same general order: Music, Welcome, Communal Prayer (words on the screen), Song, Exchange Greetings, Special Music, Scripture Reading, Sermon, Special Music, Prayer (which concludes with a congregational reciting of the Lord’s Prayer - also on the screen), Offering, Announcements, Song, and we end with more music.

If you get here late, don’t sweat it. Just come right in and find a seat. 

Central’s celebration of Holy Communion on the first Sunday of each month is observed with gluten-free bread and grape juice. You do not have to be a member of the church, Methodist, or even a Christian in order to partake in this communion, because this table is open to all. 

Central UMC offers a casual environment as far as attire and such. You can wear whatever makes you comfortable!. Come in shorts, a tee, and sandals; come in a suit; roll out of bed in a hoodie and sweats. Most people fall somewhere in between. You can also bring your coffee / tea / water too!

We offer you an invitation to come as you are, with all of who you are - your celebrations, your questions, even your doubts, fears, and worries!

Parking and Accessibility

There is ample parking behind Central’s main building, along Union St and Liberty Avenue, and in a lot across Nanticoke Avenue. There is signage in the main lot and the Nanticoke lot. We also have some designated parking for visitors - just look for the signs!

Central is accessible - with a ramp at the back entrance of the building and an elevator in the church.

Assistive Hearing Devices, which operate throughout the building, and large-print bulletins, hymnals and bibles are available by the Tech Booth in the sanctuary.

The bathrooms on the main floor are single-occupant, gender-neutral stalls. The bathroom on the lower-level just off of the Fellowship Hall is also a single-occupant, gender-neutral stall with a changing station as well.

Kidspace

Central UMC welcomes all ages to participate in the sanctuary on Sundays. We have a dedicated KidSpace at the back of the sanctuary with books, blocks, toys, coloring materials, and so much more where parents can watch their children while still participating in the service.

Children's sunday school

All children are encouraged to gather together during the 11am worship service and spend time learning about God and beginning to build a relationship with God. There will be stories, activities, games, and maybe a craft!
Children will be supervised by at least two adults who have undergone Safe Sanctuaries training.
